Lutz & Patmos

Marcia Patmos and Tina Lutz (aka design label Lutz & Patmos) are closing shop but before doing so they have kindly issued a special edition of the Carine Roitfeld Sweater in honor of the 10th anniversary. Carine originally partnered with Lutz & Patmos in the spring of 2006 to create a slim fitting cashmere crewneck with "engineered runs for ripped and pulled effect, small tubular hems, elbow patches." God, how I love this woman's mind! The sweater was offered in a tempting assortment of colors: black, aero, and silver heather for women; black, bleu marine, and silver heather for men.

The anniversary edition of the Carine Roitfeld Sweater by Lutz & Patmos is available right now through Barneys New York in black only. Note that a portion of the proceeds with be donated to Operation Smile, a charity that works to improve the medical treatment worldwide for children with facial deformities such as cleft lips and palates so do not feel guilty about indulging in the Carine Roitfeld Sweater — it helps to benefit a worthy cause. Also remember that with premade moth holes this cashmere beauty will endure.

Olivier Lalanne

I am not sure why it took so long but permit me the pleasure of sharing with you Carine Roitfeld's second in command, Olivier Lalanne. This hot Frenchman has fabulous hair and an intense gaze, two of my favorite qualities in a man. Okay, let's not intellectualize this for another minute, Olivier Lalanne is hot. Seriously.

When asked who the next most important person on her team is at Vogue Paris, Carine replied: "Olivier Lalanne, definitely. He’s my features editor-in-chief and my continuity. He’s a hard worker with a great sense of humor and he’s good looking, charming, and sweet. He was actually an intern and then he became an assistant and now I have given him this position already. I want all my team to be young very hard working people. A lot of Vogue Paris now is very young girls with great energy. Olivier is only 33, so you see I really am the old person of my magazine. And I’m the shortest of the girls too." This was in 2005; in 2006, Lalanne took over as editor-in-chief of Vogue Hommes International. Driven and intelligent, two of my favorite qualities in a man.

Ohne Titel

Carine Roitfeld kept warm at Fashion Week in New York this February by donning an enviable array of designer coats. One of the most memorable is this eyecatching number created by Ohne Titel as photographed by Blade. This gorgeous military green fur coat appears thick and heavy but it is actually lightweight because rather than being constructed entirely of fur this look is achieved by sewing thin strips of fox onto a silk frame. This technique creates the illusion of full fur with only about 33 percent of the traditional weight (and expense).

Ohne Titel (German for “no title”), is the brand founded in 2006 by Flora Gill and Alexa Adams, two designers who met at Parsons School of Design (Julia's alma mater); Alexa worked for Helmut Lang for a stint before the duo began designing for Karl Lagerfeld. Now under their own label, they focus on apparel for the modern woman: intelligent and strong, with keen attention to detail. Regarding the controversy about designing with fur Adams says, “You see so much leather and shearling being used this season, and no one is complaining about that. I don’t see the difference between using shearling and using fur.” Notably in 2009 Ohne Titel won the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award for women's wear and was among the nominees for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award.

Carine's Tea Time

Vogue Paris and Hôtel de Crillon join forces to host the Vogue Bar in the spirit of Paris Fashion Week from March 4 to 13. The menu proffers delectable beverages, often nutritious in nature, and frequently named for VP insiders. After reading accounts of the opening soirée, it seems the favorite house drink is the one named in honor of Carine Roitfeld (pictured here in the most sophisticated shade of green). "Carine's Tea Time" combines Vodka Absolut 100, sirop de thé vert, jus citron vert, eau florale de menthe or in English, Absolut vodka, green tea syrup, lime juice, and mint blossom water. This concoction sounds refreshing and comforting with just the right note of tanginess. In other words, as original and tasteful as the name suggests. The unusual hue reminds me of the Roitfeld eyes, c'est sublime.

Hakaan Yildirim

Carine Roitfeld is flying to London from New York tomorrow solely to see Hakaan Yildirim's show as London Fashion Week commences. This designer from Istanbul is likely a new face for most, though he has garnered major awards in the fashion world of Turkey. His show is being styled by Vogue's Edward Enninful and Natasha Poly, Anje Rubik, Lara Stone, and Natalia Vodianova will grace his runway. This 37 year old was discovered by Mert Alas on a photo shoot and — abracadabra — he makes London Fashion Week. Monsieur Yildirim is now based in London and he is represented by Relative | MO.
