Giovanna Battaglia In Vogue UK

Giovanna Battaglia and friends were the focus of an editorial titled "Dress Gangs" that appeared in the January 2006 issue of Vogue UK. The group, comprised of Giovanna, stylist Susan Bender, and fashion scout Camilla Al Fayed, was photographed by Mischa Richter. The three friends came together through their love of style, in particular they share a Christian Louboutin shoe fetish. Apparently they spend a lot of time in Camilla's well-stocked walk-in closet (not to be confused with her separate room devoted to bags and shoes) throwing dress-up parties that often turn into sleepovers. Sounds fabulous! Doesn't Gio look remarkably different with her hair straightened? Hard to believe but I think she may be even more gorgeous this way.

oh i remember this (shoud see if i still have the said issue)...;))
Hi, Jane! If you find the issue, it would be cool to know the other "Dress Gangs" that were included in the article. Don't you love this concept? Especially with the closets of these stylish women, what fun!
bien sûr...i"ll get back to you on that one....;)
I scanned that feature for The Fashion Spot- if you check Giovanna's thread on there you'll find another group (the Vintage Obsessives) featured on the same page as the writeup on Camilla, Susan and Giovanna.
The other groups featured included the Land Girls (can't remember their full names, but I think they were Flora, Alice,Aimee and Bella), the rock chicks (the article called them something else but that's what I remember them as- Rosemary Ferguson, Jess Hallett, Jess Morris, and Sarah Harris), the Ethereal Beauties (Martha Ward, Amanda Crossley, Clementine Hambro and I forgot the fourth name), and the aforesaid Vintage Obsessives.
Hi, Dru! Thank you so much for this new information. The other groups sound cool as well.
Sorry, I made some mistakes with the names because I didn't have the issue in front of me at the time- here is the complete list of the other groups whose features weren't scanned-
The Land Girls (Alice WIlkinson, Flora Connell, Bella McMillan-Scott and Lucy McMillan-Scott)- tweed, tea dresses, home-made knits and the odd piece of Marc Jacobs or Whistles.
The Alternative Style-setters (Jess Hallett, Rosemary Ferguson, Sarah Murray and Jess Morris)- 'scruffy around the edges' style philosophy, easy thrown-together styles like vintage t-shirts and waistcoats with skinny jeans, and a penchant for Future Classics, Preen and Karen Walker, rock t-shirts and vintage Ossie Clark, and also vintage Westwood and McQueen from the wardrobe of Jess Morris (this lot are friends with Kate Moss, so it should give you an idea of what their style is like)
The Ethereal Beauties (Amanda Crossley, Stephanie Langton, Fiona Henderson, Martha Ward, and Clemmie Hambro)- floaty pretty and sparkly things, classic feminine look combining items from Topshop and Reiss with labels like Temperley or Paul and Joe. They don;t do hard-edged fashion, but like to mix and match textures to create a chic look with a bohemian twist.
The others were Gio's group (above, though it sucks that she isn't quoted at all) and the Vintage Obsessives (Claire Howells, Becky Mason, Andrea Lowe and Zoe Kloos)
Wow, you are amazing!! Thank you so much, Dru, for taking the time to go back and research this for all of us. I totally agree that it sucks that Giovanna is not quoted in the article, strange, isn't it?
Agreed about Gio's hair. Straight looks much younger and fresher on her. Curly ages her in my opinion, although she's fabulous either way.
That's the word, KP—"fresher." For some reason the straight hair gives her a bit of edge. Her outfits are so curvy, the straight hair is a welcome contrast.
