Vogue Paris November 2010: Natasha Poly

For the cover of the November issue of Vogue Paris, Carine Roitfeld selected Natasha Poly to interpret her vision of "Love & Peace." Far out, Carine! Mario Sorrenti manned the camera for the shoot. So far I have seen editorials featuring Freja Beha Erichsen as a blonde photographed by Hedi Slimane in "Temps libre" and by Terry Richardson in "La Geisha" (my favorite so far, sexy and pretty); Sasha Pivovarova by Mikael Jansson in "Un dimanche à la campagne;" and Iselin Steiro by David Sims in "Roller Girl." Cannot wait to see more...

Can't wait to see what Terry Richardson has been up to...

It is much better than TR's average shoot in my humble estimation; it has depth and sensuality without relying on nudity. Quite lovely.

I'm not loving this cover I have to admit. It's dull.

Salut, Léo, et merci beaucoup ! I need to find this now, I truly appreciate you letting me know about it. I think your English is quite good.

Awww, cupcake, not hitting your groove thang? Maybe next time... which rumors suggest could be none other than the charming Tom Ford...

!!!!!

Fede, glad you like! I have linked to your blog, love it!

Do you know that if you buy it in France, you'll have a dvd with a documentary featuring Carine and a lot of people about 90 years of archive of the french Vogue?
(It was the same for the june / july issue and the august issue both available in france with bonus dvds with Carine inside)

I live in France, and I received the dvd

Yes, I do know about the special supplements for Vogue Paris that are available only in France. Another wonderful reason to reside in the greatest country in the world!

Léo, I would love to hear your thoughts on the DVD (as well as the magazine itself as I have yet to see it despite being a subscriber). What are your favorite editorials?
24 octobre 2010 | Registered Commenterkellina
I like the fact that French Vogue has models on the cover, it is much more interesting. I really like American Vogue it is worth of reading, but I must admit, that I really wish to see models on their cover instead of celebrities. This cover is great, great make up great picture and topic. And a model!

Coucou K - happy times for you with all the Roitfeld media + new issue huh? : )

I've just seen "Un dimanche à la campagne" and am disgusted. I cannot believe they would feature a semi-nude child in such a manner.

I'd love to hear your views.

Maya, I agree that the covers of VP are far superior to the sister Vogues. Now, how about putting Julia Restoin-Roitfeld on the cover of Vogue Paris...

Milla, I must say that I had to take another look at the editorial after reading your disgusted review of the images. I am sorry to hear that it upset you but in my sincere estimation, I see this editorial as pretty and lighthearted, a little sister and a big sister, with the younger one of course yearning to play dress up and makeup and be like the big sister. I know there are perverts out there who are aroused by the sight of virtually any bare bottom but I do not see anything sexual or wrong about this at all.

@kellina
My favorite editorials are with Sasha and with Rick Owen's muse
25 octobre 2010 | Unregistered CommenterLéo
Yes, that would be refreshing, to put beautiful Julia on the cover!

Thank you, Léo, it is nice to know your preferences. I liked those same editorials; great taste!

Maya, I am happy that you like the idea! Now if only we could convince Carine...

Woo hoo! Just received my copy and it is gorgeous! Note also that the speculation last month is true: the type treatment in the magazine has changed, it was not special for the anniversary issue.
26 octobre 2010 | Registered Commenterkellina
Please someone tell me who did the make up! I googled and couldn't find it anywhere :(
24 novembre 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKay
Kay, I will check the magazine for this information when I get home.
24 novembre 2010 | Registered Commenterkellina
Kay, Natsha's makeup is by Aaron de Mey for Lancome.

Milla (and Kellina),

I think 'Un dimanche à la campagne' was sweet - not sexy or wrong at all. Why are people so obsessed with children's bodies? Does every childish body immediately make us think of paedophiles? If so, that is very sad. It shows how un-relaxed and perverse *we* are if we get so upset by such a normal thing as a half dressed child. Go to the coast! The beaches are full of them!

Love, light and peace,

BJ

BJ, I am not sure if you saw my comment above but I actually agree with your point, I think this is a beautiful portrayal of femininity and intimacy. Intimacy which of course can take place between any two loved ones and need not involve sex. Thank you for your comment.
