Red Hot Roitfeld

Carine Roitfeld styled the Givenchy Autumn/Winter advertising campaign pictured here and it is red hot. Appearing minimal on the surface, the textures fascinate me. The campaign stars house muse Mariacarla Boscono, along with models Malgosia Bela, Willy Cartier, Jonathan Marquez, Catherine McNeil, Simon Nessman, Paolo Roldan, Joan Smalls, Lea T, and Ming Xi; the photography is by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot.

Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci points out that he chose a transexual as one of the models to exemplify the masculine/feminine dichotomy that pervades his design. His personal assistant and former house model Leo is now known as Lea T and as Tisci says, "She’s always been very feminine: superfragile, very aristocratic. She’s part of the family.” The campaign will appear in the July issue of L'Uomo Vogue.

Too fabulous for words, and so French! It's amazing just how many women (of all ages) wear red lipstick. Somehow, they always manage to find the right red for their skin. Damn the French are fabulous!!

Yes, LadyLindy, Carine certainly has a knack for color. C'est fantastique!

Milla, I love how she uses the red lips almost like a symbol. Thank you for reminding us how very French this is. Have you found your perfect red yet?

Mais oui, NARS Red lizard works for me. A girl has to try and fit in...

ooo like the sound of it, i will check it out.

This is perfection as fas as I'm concerned. The color contrasts, the angles, the modern, less-is-more sensibility. Luff!

7 mai 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKate

Oh yes, Kate, eloquently stated! The color is marvelous, the composition is masterful. La Roitfeld fashions yet another iconic image for chez Givenchy.

Powerful colors, soft pictures. Classic and modern at the same time. Carine always surprise us. Beijos - www.liemalgumlugar.blogspot.com
