Vogue Paris October 2010: Lara Stone

We all know that Carine Roitfeld honored Lara Stone with the October cover of Vogue Paris celebrating the 90th anniversary and likely you saw the photo but I have a tradition of posting the cover each month so here it is. At 624 pages, the special issue weighs 2.2 kilograms and features over 100 pages of personal letters from various designers and houses commemorating the anniversary of the magazine.

Also included are fascinating archival treasures such as an interview with Jeanne Moreau by Françoise Sagan (Carine's favorite author), an interview with Romy Schneider as shot by Helmut Newton (two of Carine's style icons), and an intimate letter of love to Elizabeth Taylor from Richard Burton. The October issue of Vogue Paris hits kiosks on September 27, note that I previously misstated the date. Also prepare for a slight price increase, the magazine usually sells for 4.90 € but readers must pay 5.90 € for this special issue.

Kate, I think we ought to go to Paris and buy it so that we get the fabulous sheath of 100 prints from the last nine decades of the world's chicest yet sexiest publication.

Okay, with the fabulous "90 years of excess" splashed across the front, I've warmed to Lara's cover. I love the wording!!

I would love to go to Paris!

Hooray! I am delighted to hear that Carine managed to seduce even you with this cover, Milla! The text really does enhance the image.

So would I, Kate! Unfortunately my schedule will not allow it in time for the October issue... grrrr...

OMG! I just want to have it in my hands!!!!

Madame M, I second that emotion! Bring it on...

Why is french Vogue so expensive in US? 15 dollar or something ? Too bad.. : ((( not fair... but thank to you Kelina, we are able to see some parts and enjoy this peace of perfection!

It is irritating, Maya, and I would love to hear the rationale behind the pricing structure for international magazines. I assume the postage plays a part but in today's era it seems a more equitable solution could be found. Thank you so much for your kind words, it is my pleasure to be able to share the wonders of Vogue Paris with you! More coming soon... If only I had two more hands...

I wonder how much time is dedicated to choosing the font/colour - it really makes/breaks the allure of the issue. I'm super-duper excited and can imagine a day of back to front cover reading (I usually start reading magazines from the back...). Any news on other models featured? And by "other models" you know who I mean! : )

$15 seems so expensive, especially since you don't get the supplements. It is the same here with foreign magazines costing about €9 (approx. $12). It's so wrong.

PS - don't forget that you ladies have a place to stay when you come to Paris : )

Love this cover, it's one of the best ones I've seen in ages!

Milla, you are such a sweetheart! I cannot wait to see you and Paris! Keep that faith.

I agree that the inflated price is doubly insulting due to the lack of supplements. Lots of times the supplements look to be the best bits. Sigh.

I would love nothing more than to sit in on the decision making that surrounds the choice of cover right down to the detail of the text color. So, Carine, if you were not sure what to get me for Christmas, just invite me to the next meeting...

; )

Now, Milla, you know the minute I find out about "other models" I drop everything and email you immediately! Nothing yet but I am always on the lookout for you.

: D

I often begin a magazine from the back too! In case I haven't mentioned it lately — you are the coolest, ma belle !

Bisous

Bex, I must agree. I think this cover is a brilliant commemoration of the sexy, elusive quality Vogue Paris has brought to bear for nearly a century. Merci beaucoup for your comment and let me know if you would like to exchange blog links...

Oh, that is so sweet of you!!! Thank you for saying so, Maya, and I will keep working to make it worth your time to visit. Bisous

Guess what????

I received the October issue today!!!!! Sweeeeeeeet!!!!!!

I am happy to see this as my subscription issue did not arrive for August and came damaged for September. This is two days ahead of the predicted arrival so somewhat restores my faith.

p.s. It is one excessive issue for sure, wheeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers, Caz! Thank you so much for your comment! Lucky you got your hands on a copy of this issue, it is definitely a keeper! I may buy an extra copy to keep wrapped in the plastic as well as I firmly believe it will be a collector's item in future years.
