New Vogue Paris Editor-In-Chief: Emmanuelle Alt

Vogue Paris has just announced their new editor-in-chief — Emmanuelle Alt will be the next woman to lead the influential magazine, taking the place of our beloved Carine Roitfeld. She advances from her current role as fashion director for Vogue Paris. I cannot wait to see what Emmanuelle has planned for us... In her own words of acceptance she promises to keep developing the magazine, “It is a great honor for me, but also a great pleasure to become the editor of Vogue Paris that I know so well. In working with very talented teams I will try to develop the the incredible potential of Vogue Paris.” To learn more about Emmanuelle's fashion philosophy, read her interview with 20 Ans, the publication for which she and Carine worked prior to Vogue Paris.

I'm not surprised but more curious what Carine will do after she leaves
Vogue and if at rumors say, she was fired.

Fired? I never heard that rumor! Emmanuelle is uber cool - awesome choice.

The news is great. The release of the news is even grea-ter...

The suspense was about to destroy our lives, abolish our sanity and... (what else ;- )... yes, what else ???) ruin our family ? We are saved and safe.

By the way, happy new year, Kellina.

Best,

I wish I could read it all in French

Of course he's discussing EA, but what a major big-up to Carine "le succès est incontestable" Roitfeld here. I knew they would keep it French (and rightfully so).

"Je souhaitais aussi que Vogue Paris ait une rédactrice en chef française, or en France, Emmanuelle Alt, avec Carine Roitfeld, est la meilleure. Je ne voulais pas non plus changer le positionnement de Vogue Paris, dont le succès est incontestable : je souhaitais assurer la continuité et le même niveau de qualité et d’exigence, propre au magazine."

Excellent 3 questions and I'm sure Carine feels confident about who is leading the magazine forward. It would be awful if all of her hard work went down the drain.

PS - "the Kellinas"- lovesit!!

This is seriously great news! I felt it was gonna be her. I really did :)

I knew it! :D That is great news. She's very cool.

This is very good news for French Vogue! Congratulations! She will not disappoint.

...she is great for this job, a great heiress of carine :)
bissou :)
7 janvier 2011 | Unregistered Commenternina
I think Alt is up to the job, but since she is biker chic and not over the fashion Globe like Carine who says I hate bags, i hate furs, I hate short skirts, yet,. will later be seen wearing theses things, makes Alt. a fashion one note in her personal dress, so I;'ll miss Carine with her Hit and misses.
7 janvier 2011 | Unregistered Commentercigalechantawhat
Cigalechanta, I am dying of curiosity as to Carine's next move and how it impacts the success of her entire family and, selfishly, my site!

; )
8 janvier 2011 | Registered Commenterkellina
Cupcake, Emmanuelle is über cool, I am interested to see how the magazine looks under her leadership.
8 janvier 2011 | Registered Commenterkellina
Madame Nas, Happy New Year to you as well, I hope you are enjoying it. This release is great, however, the suspense that is killing me is that in which Kina has left us, what is she up to?! I am far from saved and safe.
8 janvier 2011 | Registered Commenterkellina
Cigalechanta, I wish I had time for a full translation. Essentially Xavier Romatet says that he chose Emmanuelle Alt because she is respected as a stylist and a fashion editor and she is French, those were his top criteria for selection. He hopes the positioning of Vogue Paris will not change and that the standard of quality continues, it is currently an undeniable success. It is important to Romatet that the brand of Vogue Paris is universally recognized with increasing representation in the digital world.

Milla, nice point, perhaps it is a comfort to Carine that her amazing work will not be in vain. However, who is going to add that Roitfeld edge now to mix up the heavily androgynous pages?

; )

I do like Emmanuelle's style enormously but her work rarely varies from her own personal style. I can't wait to see that first issue and make the comparison! Also look forward to your review of same!!

: D

As for another question you had asked about timing, my understanding is that Emmanuelle begins February 1 but does not appear on the masthead as editor-in-chief until April (which answers a question I have had about timing — apparently it takes two months to create, produce, and distribute an issue of Vogue Paris). Carine's last issue will be in March so we have only two more...

[sniff, sob]

I can't wait to see "heavily androgynous" models, admire outrageously sexy bikers and - who knows... ;-) - to read a Vogue Xmas issue in partnership with Harley Davidson.

I am SO deliciously thrilled !

Best,

Mrs Kelly Nas (Kellina, I must admit that the homophony of our names is an un-expected and un-explained miracle...)

Madame Nas, your sense of humor is divine. I enjoy your way with words ever so.
9 janvier 2011 | Registered Commenterkellina
Longredthread, I am glad you like the news. Since the spot must be filled, who better but Carine's understudy of so many years?
9 janvier 2011 | Registered Commenterkellina
Kate, she is definitely cool, I totally agree! Tell me though, which of her editorials do you remember best?
9 janvier 2011 | Registered Commenterkellina
Maya, if anyone can keep the vibe alive, I think it is Emmanuelle. Time will tell...
9 janvier 2011 | Registered Commenterkellina
"Heiress of Carine"! Love it, Nina!

bisou bisou
9 janvier 2011 | Registered Commenterkellina
Cigalechanta, this is the most accurate description yet of Carine's je ne sais quoi. Emannuelle Alt is cool as hell and has influenced women all over the world that have no idea who she is. But EA is completely consistent and compared to Carine's daring style that translates as conservative for me.
9 janvier 2011 | Registered Commenterkellina
Brad, I am glad to hear that you are happy with the choice of EA as EIC. I wish I could find more examples of her work prior to Vogue Paris...

Our Mom is divine ! Thanks Kellina

Thanks for sending us some ok-uk tees

Cello, Celli and Cella Nas

PS: A remark by Mr Keanu Nas: hum... By "ok-uk", my kids mean "Vogue Ro-ck-s, Le Figaro su-ck-s"...
I always thought that my son-in-law wa to permissive with the kids.

Please, Kellina:

DO NO SEND ANY OK-UK-OR-WHATSOEVER-TEES TO MY GRANDCHILDREN.

Yours faithfully,

10 janvier 2011 | Unregistered Commentercigalechantawhat
Not to worry, cigalechanta, it is a sort of running private joke between the ever clever Madame Nas and myself. Apparently the entire Nas family reads my site... If you will excuse me, I have some tees to package.

; )
10 janvier 2011 | Registered Commenterkellina
K. Nas, do you know how you affect me? As you may suspect, your entire family delights me! One need never apologize for enthusiasm.

Cello, Celli, Cella — enjoy the tees, darlings! Ok-uk always!

Kâlî, ooops, on the way! Permission or no, kids do what they want. Keep the faith.

Great ! Mesmerizing ! Thrilling ! Philanthropic !.

Exponentially hyperbolic !

Many thanks !

Cigalechanta, I am willing to wager that the full story will never be known...
