Aqua Motu

How does Julia Restoin Roitfeld finish her look perfectly? She adds a spritz of Aqua Motu Eau de Toilette from Comptoir Sud Pacifique, her favorite scent. Julia describes it as, "The smell of hot sand, the ocean, and sunscreen. I have been wearing Aqua Motu from Comptoir Sud Pacifique for almost 15 years — and that's what it reminds me of… I sometimes wear other perfumes, but feel like I’m 'cheating' and always go back to my good old one." In the photo below captured by Into the Gloss, Mademoiselle Roitfeld's own bottle of Aqua Motu can be seen on the top shelf of her beauty cabinet.

Launched in 1993, the light and clean fragrance of Aqua Motu is sunny and relaxing, enveloping one in a blend of notes reminiscent of sea breeze and warm sand. With a base note of kelp, followed by marine, lily-of-the-valley, and sand topped with helichrysum, Aqua Motu is the ideal summer fragrance, evoking the season with each spray. Julia Restoin Roitfeld heightens her experience by bathing in the scent as well: "When it’s just me in the shower, I exfoliate my body with Comptoir Sud Pacifique Gentle Exfoliant. It smells kind of like the beach to me — I’m obsessed with it."

Horny Cow

No wonder Julia Restoin-Roitfeld lists the Horny Cow candle by Cowshed among her favorites, the floral and spicy scent permeates the London flat of her boyfriend, ever-so-sexy model Robert Konjic. The essential oils of patchouli and cinnamon in the Horny Cow candle create an inviting environment but the ingredient that really heightens the senses for romance and passion is the rose absolute, the secret weapon for conquests. An ulterior motive you say? Well of course! Robert knows the way to Julia’s heart, and, errr, her body. Just another means of seduction for this hot couple...

Don’t you wish this page had a scratch and sniff?

Once you move past the seduction part (I know, hard to do) you will discover just how environmentally friendly Cowshed candles are. They use 100% natural wax made from GM free, organic, and certified vegan ingredients. All materials are renewably and sustainably sourced and free from chemicals, palm, paraffin, and petroleum waxes. The wick is lead-free and made from natural fibers, too. Approximate burn time is 60 hours — that’s a lot of lovemaking! Luckily for Julia those 60 hours must be pleasantly exhausting with Robert as your partner.

I’m running out to get one right now...

Sensual Jil By Jil Sander

Remember the sexy campaign that Julia Restoin-Roitfeld fronted for Jil by Jil Sander? Exciting news, the company plans to release a new fragrance called Sensual Jil in November and Julia stars in this campaign as well. Created by renowned perfumer Olivier Polge of International Flavors & Fragrances, the scent includes notes of blackberry, orange blossom, patchouli, and vanilla and is described as modern, mysterious, seductive, hypnotic, sensual. Simple yet sophisticated, the flacon is crafted of dark blue glass in the same shape as its sister perfume, Jil, with the logo inscribed in pink. For their campaign, Jil Sander sought to portray a woman who is very feminine and sensual while at the same time moderate and natural; I think they struck just the right vibe in choosing Julia.

Jil By Jil Sander

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld stars in the recent advertising campaign for Jil, the signature fragrance of Jil Sander. She is a perfect face for the scent. In Julia's words, "I feel that I am a new generation Jil Sander woman; strong, independent, and hard working... The Jil Sander woman is tough and confident, but also has a soft, feminine side. That's how I feel sometimes... I am really very, very proud to be the new face of fragrance."

Mademoiselle Restoin-Roitfeld enjoys wearing Jil as well as modeling the luxury product: "It reminds me kind of when I mix two scents together which makes my perfume more unique... At first scent it is strong and then it evaporates and smells lighter, very feminine too. It has flowers and amber at the end. It is like a subtlety of a woman who seems very tough and confident but is actually very feminine and fragile."

Tom Ford Black Orchid

In November 2006, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld became the face for Tom Ford Black Orchid and she also lists this strange and dark beauty among her favorite fragrances. Black Orchid is incredibly luxurious and hypnotic, exactly the type of scent one imagines being worn by a film noir starlet in her most seductive femme fatale manner. Concocted by a team at Givaudan led by Roman Kaise, Black Orchid is an alluring potion of exotic wood and fruit accords with notes of amber, balsam, bergamot, black currant, black gardenia, black truffle, citrus, dark chocolate, French jasmine, incense, lotus wood, mandarin, orchid, patchouli, sandalwood, vetiver, vanilla, and ylang-ylang.

The Art Deco inspired bottle of jet black crystal was created exclusively for the Tom Ford Fragrance Collection by Lalique and its simple elegance adds to the cachet of the perfume. When Ford chose this premiere crystal company, he essentially announced the end of minimalism in perfume packaging: “The Lalique heritage, tradition, craftsmanship and legacy of iconic fragrance bottles made the decision an easy one… In the 1990s, it would have been a transparent bottle with minimalist packaging, transparent juice and a minimalist scent. But we have become so dermatological in our approach to beauty that I wanted to put some glamour back into beauty.” Timeless, exotic, glamorous, rich, sensual — Julia again fits the bill, inspiring as the ideal muse.
