Jil By Jil Sander

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld stars in the recent advertising campaign for Jil, the signature fragrance of Jil Sander. She is a perfect face for the scent. In Julia's words, "I feel that I am a new generation Jil Sander woman; strong, independent, and hard working... The Jil Sander woman is tough and confident, but also has a soft, feminine side. That's how I feel sometimes... I am really very, very proud to be the new face of fragrance."

Mademoiselle Restoin-Roitfeld enjoys wearing Jil as well as modeling the luxury product: "It reminds me kind of when I mix two scents together which makes my perfume more unique... At first scent it is strong and then it evaporates and smells lighter, very feminine too. It has flowers and amber at the end. It is like a subtlety of a woman who seems very tough and confident but is actually very feminine and fragile."

Gorillaz

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld is one of the millions of Gorillaz fans worldwide but if you peek at her record collection, you may notice that she actually likes Damon Albarn in various incarnations. The stack of discs on her floor includes not just Demon Days by Gorillaz but The Early Years by Blur (whom Albarn fronted) and the soundtrack from the film Trainspotting which includes both "Sing" by Blur and "Closet Romantic," a solo number by Albarn. Nice taste, Julia!

Gorillaz was formed by Albarn and cartoonist Jamie Hewlett and includes an evolving mix of talent; I consider them one of the archetypal groups of this era. Taking the best of rock, electronic, hip hop, and dub and making music greater than the sum of its parts, Gorillaz has just released their third studio album, Plastic Beach. Featuring everyone from Snoop Dogg to The Lebanese National Orchestra for Oriental Arabic Music, I think PB is even better than Demon Days which you should note is one of my ten favorite albums. Check out the video for the song "Stylo" if you have not seen it yet... it is like a cool little film set to the perfect soundtrack but running only 5.40, j'adore le génie.

Johnnie Sapong

When asked about her favorite hairdresser, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld named Johnnie Sapong at The Studio, a new concept salon in London. As Julia says, "He is such a great hairdresser, I completely trust him and he is so funny." Sapong is one of the hottest names in hair primarily because he is a genius with the scissors and because his beneficent manner immediately puts clients at ease. He was born in London and got his start working at a friend's sister's Molton Brown salon in the West End.

Sapong says of his calling, “I’ve always wanted to create shapes with hair because sculpture was something I felt I’d missed out on at school. I use the hair as a raw material, build it and go from there. Sometimes it’s harder to underdo hair, to make something look unkempt and dishevelled, but sexy.” He lives in London with his wife, Karen, and three sons. Domino's Pizza

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld confesses that she rarely uses the kitchen in her apartment but keeps Domino's Pizza virtually on speed dial on her phone. As Julia sheepishly admits, "I'm very embarrassed but I like the thin-crust pizza. It's like, there's this amazing Italian restaurant called Don Giovanni on 10th Avenue, but I prefer Domino's." I understand her obsession, I have a pizza from Domino's on the way right now along with the warm chocolate lava cake. Yes, delivered to your doorstep! You can also monitor the progress of your pizza using their virtual order tracker, c'est amusant. I agree with Mademoiselle Restoin-Roitfeld, have Domino's deliver you the perfect pizza. Et n'oubliez pas les gâteaux au chocolat... chaud...

Prps Flak Jacket

In true military style, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld has been spotted sporting the Prps flak jacket; here she is pictured balancing it with a nude Burberry Prorsum Reef Knot dress and black Burberry laceup platforms. Note that Julia has detached the glam fur collar to give the jacket more edge. Prps is the creative vision of Donwan Harrell which he states thusly: "Prps is a tool, or voice of things and values I hold dear to myself. Free + easy culture and a classic, nostalgic vision of the American life — stye at its best." Harrell is also a founder of Akademiks, a former top ten Nike designer, and a denim fanatic. Be sure to check out the Prps web site, lots of fun trompe-l'œil objects with which to play.
