Cashmere

When it comes to fine fabrics, it seems the entire Roitfeld family is partial to cashmere. We've read that Carine has shelves full of black and beige cashmere sweaters to wear, no surprise there. What is surprising is that both of her children prefer cashmere headgear. Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld can be seen above wearing a cashmere hat from Dior which he says is his favorite accessory and which he wears in any season. I do love how he is mixing the plaid and the stripes, very dapper. (I should also note that this is the first photograph in which I have seen him smoking a cigarette, that's a disappointment.) Julia Restoin-Roitfeld is really pushing the boundaries of the fabric, she is pictured below wearing a cashmere turban! It's too bad the trend never really caught on but we must credit her for trying.

I think the turban will be big next season, she just anticipated.
You see all kind of turban in street style photographer's blog: vanessajackman, jak&jill, thesartorialist..... I think the cashmere one Julia is wearing is from here: verdel.co.uk

Lucy, thank you so much for the lead! I agree, Julia is ahead of the curve on this trend. What do you think, would you wear a turban?

Lucy, also I just saw this article "Turban Chic" which credits La Roitfeld for putting the turban on a man! Here is the link:

Hi Kellina, thank you for the link and yes I would definitely wear a turban I am looking forward to do it for next winter.

I think it adds a certain glamour...in the end in winter we're all wearing beanie, often something that is just flat on the head and that can make you look bad!
why not finding a more stylish way to do it? what do you think?

My pleasure, Lucy. I am excited to hear that you plan to wear a turban and I agree with your rationale. If we must have bad hair due to covering our heads, let us at least do it with style. I will seriously consider it, I need to try one first and see how I look. It seems like a lot of black around the face, not sure about beige or ivory though, perhaps slate. What color are you planning to wear?

Just thinking maybe I should also add the turban to Julia's favorites. How did you find out the one she is wearing is from Verdel? I'd love to mention them in the post if it definitely is that label. Grazie!

Hi! I am going conservative and starting to wear a black one :-)
Hi Kellina! I am not 100% sure Julia's one is from Verdel, I was researching on google to buy one for me, and it looked the most similar, I have also founded this brands doing Cashmere Turbans:
Eugenia Kim: http://oignonsetail.wordpress.com/2009/11/17/my-favorite-place-to-order-online-aloha-rag/
and Tallulah Brand: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=50983890972
The Julia's one could not be Prada because they did it only in satin...
...Hey Julia if you read us, please tell where you get your turban!

Do you know other brand doing them?

Great choice of colors, Lucy, I feel like black makes any garment safer!

; D

I agree, the one from Verdel that you showed does look like Julia's. Thank you for the links to the other brands. I don't know other brands doing them yet but maybe Julia will read your note and respond.

: )
