Happy Birthday Giovanna Battaglia!

I'd like to wish a belated happy birthday to Giovanna Battaglia. According to my sources, this beautiful Italian turned 30 on Saturday, September 26. She spent the day in Milan with her boyfriend Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld lunching at the fabulous Bulgari Hotel. J'adore her birthday outfit, as always she looks so chic and elegant without being overdone. This is her first time celebrating her birthday with Vladimir, I hope that he got her a very special gift. sorry to say this shes stunning but she soooooo doesnt look 29 i was shocked she looks much older than that i thought she was in her late 30s at least!!!!!!!!

Hi, Suz! Thank you for commenting. Can you isolate what it is that made you think Giovanna was older than her age? I think she glows with an unmistakable youthful vigor but perhaps it is her sophisticated attire or her poise and confidence that belies her age.

Do u know what i think its a combination of things that make her look older than she is, yes u maybe right in saying she does have poise and elegance which she carries of well but im afraid i dont agree with you when u say she has this youthful vigor....

To me she doesnt look particularly young thats why i was shocked when you told me her age, and i dont particularly feel she dresses according to her age...... i mean i feel like she dresses alot more like her older contemporaries than her younger ones. Julia for example who does if i may say glows with a youthful vigor, who is a lot more closer to her in age. Julia has this innocent and playful look, and effortless glamour to her. However can i just clarify this is completely my opinion this could be totally not what other people think.

Giovanna describes her style as classic and I think sometimes that comes across as you say, more like that of her older contemporaries. I had vaguely considered her older in the past based on her achievements in her career after her time modeling/inspiring D&G. But of course that started and ended when she was relatively young so it is misleading. It is possible that the article I read did not have her correct age. Whatever her age, Ms. Battaglia is one of the world's best dressed women, with a chic, savvy style of her own and I think she is wonderful.

Giovanna's very attractive - she has a great body and great style. She's one of my fashion inspirations.

But it's kind of obvious that she doesn't look her age. In fact, I always thought she was in her late 40's! I'm shocked to find out that she's only 30...all this time, I've been so impressed with her for maintaining a youthful body into what I assumed was middle age. Some factors are her clothing choices (many of the items she wears are not commonly worn by women under 40), the fact that she almost always wears her hair in a bun, and the the mature and sophisticated air she has about her.

But mostly it's the face that makes her seem older - it's haggard and worn, there are bags under her eyes, and she nearly always looks dead-tired. For example, see these photos:

Perhaps she smokes?

Hi, Amber: I have seen photos of Giovanna smoking and she wrote on her Twitter page that she needed to quit once she turned 30. She probably enjoys tanning as well and too much sun takes a toil on the skin that is on par with smoking. Perhaps the combination has aged her skin doubly!

wow i am shocked to hear she is 30. to me she looks late 30s/early 40s (but like someone of that age who looks incredible - like jennifer aniston). i don't think it's her outfits - look at the olens, they dress very mature but don't look older. it's just her face, bone structure and look.

I ADORE her but when I found out that she was going out with Vladimir I was totally shocked...she appears older than I'd assumed! But hey she is so elegant and classy there is a timeless quality about her :)

She'll come into her own when she is in her '40s - and by then maybe she'll have stopped smoking! Her style is Italian bourgeois rather than from the pages of Vogue Italia. Her look in this photo is very Capri in the seventies. I suppose it's also because she has the face of a woman rather than a girl. Many happy returns, Giovanna.

Wow! I have to agree with all the other posts. I always thought she was my age. I am 40. I think it is a combination of her style, which is decidedly elegant and reflective of a mature woman. It is also her facial structure, in particular her cheekbones, that make her face look older as well. I am a huge fan. She is such an attractive woman. Regardless, she is better looking and more sophisticated than most women of any age.

She is certainly gorgeous and well dressed. I did noticed something I liked about her , she hardly wears makeup or if she does it really not that visible. She does have a mature look about her.
