Young Carine Roitfeld

The Huffington Post challenges readers to identify a few famous fashion faces from photos taken in their younger days and clearly we all know the one pictured above is Carine Roitfeld. It is fun to flash back to a different time, and for some fashion icons, an entirely different look! Personally I would love to see more photographs from Carine's childhood but this is the only one I have been able to find anywhere. Oops, other than this little one taken in St. Tropez, that is... Can anyone help?

WOW! she was a beauty! that pic is really impressive
..and I personally think, it is very interesting to compare her to Julia.
It´s like young Carine was the pure version, with all her striking features standing out very clearly.
And Julia seems to be the soft version of just the same features, mixed with something to make them more smooth.
Like pure, strong, italian espresso vs. a gentle(American version) Latte (well, that is for sure a very poor analogy, couldn´t think of something better - but do you see, what I am trying to say?)

Fee, nice to see you! This is a pretty photo of Carine, her eyes here are mesmerizing. I like how natural she is even then.

I do see what you mean, Mononoke. She clearly has Carine's features but she is softer, curvier, less edge. Very interesting observation, thanks for your comment! And your analogy! Each day I drink several shots of espresso over ice with water and a serious dollop of half and half to soften the blow. I understand your analogy implicitly. I don't like just the pure espresso or the gentle latte, I am somewhere in between. Which is perhaps why I like the styles of both les femmes Roitfeld.

Absolutely captivating. I think she looks quite Mediterranean here, especially her hair which is so thick (compared to now). It was her destiny to become such a beautiful woman. I wonder what her mother looks like...

She was beautiful !

The eyes are great!

Kellina, we may look at this show but certainly one or two more photos of themselves, and we would be pleased :D

I have read only recently as rare photos of the young woman Roitfeld ... g *

J'avais déjà vu cette photo !

Salut, Milla ! Great points, Carine does look very Mediterranean in this photo and I would LOVE to see what her mother looks like. I will bet she is a beauty.

14 juin 2010 | Registered Commenterkellina

Indeed, Stéphanie! Was and is...

Oh, Fee, these young photos of Carine are exceedingly rare and I would so love to have more of them. Très cher ! Hug & kiss to you, belle.

14 juin 2010 | Registered Commenterkellina

Ouai, Sophie, je sais. Moi aussi mais j'ai pensé que peut-être d'autres ne l'avait pas vu.

Her eyebrows were different then, I just noticed!

So nice!

15 juin 2010 | Unregistered CommenterLadyLindy

Kate, her eyebrows were dramatically different. Which look do you prefer for
Carine — plucked or natural? I've read that her advice to Julia includes never pluck your brows!

; )

15 juin 2010 | Registered Commenterkellina

Si, si, LadyLindy!

15 juin 2010 | Registered Commenterkellina

Natural eyebrows are so much better!

16 juin 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKate

Kate, I completely agree!! One of the best outcomes of my Roitfeld obsession is the fact that I have let my eyebrows grow in per Carine's advice. I used to pluck them to death.

; )

16 juin 2010 | Registered Commenterkellina

And mine refuse to grow....

17 juin 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKate

LOL, do they really? Were there once more hairs and now they just don't come back? I had to forego plucking for MONTHS before mine began reappearing. And they looked quite mangy for a bit which was hard. I can't say I love them now but they are improved.

(At one point in my pluckiness, Michael actually asked me what was wrong with them!)

; )

17 juin 2010 | Registered Commenterkellina

Word of warning--sometimes eyebrows refuse to grow back. Leave the plucking to the professionals!!

18 juin 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKate

Kate, thank you for the warning! Very good to know.
