Carine Roitfeld For Chanel Autumn/Winter 2011

We learned in April that Carine Roitfeld will style the new collection for Chanel and here are the first shots from the campaign for Autumn/Winter 2011 which previewed at Cannes. The ads feature Freja Beha Erichsen in her fifth campaign for Chanel as photographed by Karl Lagerfeld. Carine chose an instant photo booth on the streets of Paris as the setting for the campaign, amplifying the rawness of the images. Love the veil, must figure out how to work this into my daily attire...

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld: Green-Eyed Lady

This post is supposed to be about Julia Restoin-Roitfeld's socialite agenda but she looks so incredibly gorgeous that I just have to take a moment to behold her beauty. I think it is safe to say there is no Photoshop involved here, this woman is perfect down to her last freckled little pore.

Now back to the details of Julia's robust social life... She attended the 6th Annual Tribeca Film Festival Artists Dinner hosted by Chanel at Odeon in New York. The following day we see her at the premiere for L'amour fou, a fascinating documentary that focuses on the sale of the legendary art collection of Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé. Please visit the photo gallery for many more shots of Julia at both events, I believe the photographers were just as captivated by the Roitfeld eyes...

Carine Roitfeld For Chanel

Our favorite fashion influencer is on to her next hot gig — Carine Roitfeld is styling the Autumn/Winter 2011/2012 collection for Chanel! The campaign stars Danish model Freja Beha Erichsen and was shot in Paris recently. For this season Karl Lagerfeld chose to focus on apocalypse by way of masculine jackets, pants, jumpsuits, and work boots; I am curious to see how Carine will work her magic with the collection. What are Lagerfeld's thoughts on the new campaign? "I like to work with the same girls and boys all the time. The mix with Freja was genius," he notes. Stay tuned for more greatness from Chanel, Lagerfeld is shooting a film to show as part of the Chanel cruise collection on May 9 in Antibes. Set in Monaco and the south of France, the short film features Erichsen, Lady Amanda Harlech, Kristen McMenamy, and Anna Mouglalis; Carine's involvement in the film is not clear at this point.

Roitfeld At Chanel Paris-Byzance

For the past decade, Chanel has organized a special show each December outside of the typical Fashion Week schedule in order to honor the superior work of the house's artisans. Known as "Métiers d'Art," this lovely tradition showcases the quality craftmanship for which Chanel is famous. "Paris to Byzantium" is the theme for this Chanel pre-collection and the clothes are unusually gorgeous. Inspired by the splendor of the Byzantine empire and in particular his muse, Empress Theodora, Karl Lagerfeld gives us a hint of the luxury and beauty of this fallen empire. Velvets, silks, and tweeds swept down the runway, heavily embellished with crystals and Bohemian tulle. Of course Carine Roitfeld was on hand for the splendiferous event, I wonder if she plans to wear anything from this exotic collection... The Chanel artisans that were honored include Desrues for metalwork, Goossens for goldsmithing, Guillet for artificial flowers, Lemarie for feathers, Lesage for embroidery, Michel for millinery, and Massaro for shoemaking.
