Roitfeld At Kate Moss Longchamp Launch

Last night at the Ritz Club in Paris, Carine Roitfeld celebrated the launch of Kate Moss' new collection for Longchamp along with 700 other revelers. I believe Carine is paying homage to Kate's golden touch with her sparkling outfit. The collection includes clutches, shoppers, and travel bags in twelve assorted styles, each named after Kate's favorite London spots such as Glastonbury, Gloucester, Goldbourne, Ladbroke, Soho. The bags will be in stores in London on February 11. Kate has been the face for Longchamp for four years. Among the guests were Kate’s fiancé, Jamie Hince, the Cassegrain family (owners of Longchamp), Sophie Delafontaine (creative director for Longchamp), the Princess of Venice, Giambattista Valli, Loulou de la Falaise, Maryna Linchuk, Audrey Marnay, Frida GustavssonJean-Marc Barr, Delphine Chaneac, Clotilde Courau, Laurent Artufel, Vahina Giocante, Anna Cleveland, les Plasticines, and the Queens of Noize performed. Kate also launched her fourth perfume called Vintage recently. Watch this clip for behind-the-scenes action at Kate's Longchamp photo shoot.

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld In YSL

I think it is clear that in assembling this outfit Julia Restoin-Roitfeld is referencing the Yves Saint Laurent Parisienne campaign for its latest (fabulous) fragrance starring Kate Moss as the face:

√ Übersexy YSL leather bustier, check.

√ Old fashioned rose in leather clad décolletage, check.

√ Killer talons, also by YSL, check.

Who plays the part of la parisienne better, Julia or Kate?

Roitfeld: Black, Brown, and Brava

Speaking of best dressed, I am so smitten with Carine Roitfeld's recent looks blending black and brown with complete aplomb. I consider it a challenge to combine brown with black tastefully but Carine does it with ease. The boots she is wearing here are killer, I love the way they lace up over the knee. The coat is by Prada and I like how the classic details are exaggerated ever so slightly.

Carine and Kate Moss are seated front row for the Yves Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2010 show last night and as you've probably heard, Kate's shirt left little to the imagination. For example, notice where eye level falls for the gentleman two seats down. He's not imagining things, it's his lucky day. Personally I'd rather look at Carine's boots. Kate is the face for YSL's new fragrance, Parisienne.

John Richmond just opened his first Paris boutique and Carine was on hand to help him celebrate his newest location. Situated on rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré, the flagship store is a physical expression of the brand's evolving philosophy including installations of art and new architecture. Other John Richmond stores are located in Kiev, Capri, Porto Cervo, and Milan.

Vogue Paris October 2009: Kate Moss

The October issue of Vogue Paris features Roitfeld favorite Kate Moss as shot by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. The focus is "Spécial Top Models". Hmmm, not a lot of surprises there...

I think I like Kate's look, a bit icy, painterly—if you focus your eyes on just the highlights, the photograph is phenomenal. The tableau is perfectly crafted, too; the gray background is just the right foil to the lightness of Kate and the fur. The texture is remarkable, it really looks in spots as if someone pulled a paintbrush through it, the wisps of fur, her hair, up the side of her neck.

Some critics remarked on the absence of the "G" from the cover but I think that bit of the letter arcing out of her head would be horrible. Another possibility is to move Kate upwards so that the lack of "G" is anticipated, but perhaps Carine liked how the curves of her hair enhanced the flow of the photo and didn't want to disrupt the line. Featured in the October "Une Fille Un Style" section is Mme Gaspard, the muse of Pierre Cardin in the 1960s.

Lucky subscribers receive a special supplement this month, Vogue Paris : Les secrets de ses plus belles couvertures, a collection of covers of past issues of the magazine with accompanying text that explains the background of each one. Twiggy was selected as the cover model for the supplement. Also included are outtakes from the shoot for the November cover with Mario Sorrenti and an interview with David Bailey.

French Glamour By Carine Roitfeld

By magazine standards, French Glamour has had a relatively short life (1988-1995, reprising in 2004). During this brief span, many esteemed photographers and stylists have made the pages of the magazine including the duo of Carine Roitfeld and Marc Hispard. They worked together on the cover shown here for October 1993 featuring fresh and gorgeous top model Kate Moss intimating a strangely sexy woolly caterpillar... "Comment la petite est devenue grande"... Oooo la la.
