Vogue Paris February 2010: Daria Werbowy

Sheesh, so much for joining the ranks of the privileged Vogue Paris subscriber... I have yet to receive my initial issue though I see in the online forums that others have had their copies for a couple of days now. Harrumph. Also it seems that the rumors that we would see new blood on this cover were false—though it is a beauty, the model is standby Daria Werbowy in Prada Spring/Summer 2010 shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. I am excited to read that there is an interview with Tom Ford and an article with Kate Moss regarding her collaboration with Longchamp. [By the way, is she working for Vogue Paris as an editor now?] The image below is from the editorial "Vogue-à-Porter" styled by Carine Roitfeld, Emmanuelle Alt, and Camilla Nickerson.

hello kellina..

(mmm i don't subscribe...i just buy...maybe i should subscribe?? must weigh the benefits).

(oh and regarding dec's issue...not really a fan of laetitia's...so the issue was a little flat...what did you think?)

i am interested in seeing what kate moss will do with longchamp...
i gather that you are not keen that tavi was chosen for "un fille un style"? :)

..oh and i like british vogue...do you?

hello jane! i just received my vp subscription as a gift from my darling beau so i can't really compare yet, this will be my very first issue... but i'll let you know once i've had a chance to assess things.

december was more interesting that i had thought it would be since i know very little about laetitia. it was much better than the previous year's, which was ultraboring with princess stephanie. i doubt anything could match the wonder of the year before (dec 07) with charlotte gainsbourg, that was amazing.

though i only buy vogue uk if the issue includes someone like jrr or lou doillon, i do like what i see. is that your fave?

Is it just me, or does this cover have a Beyonce vibe (think "upgrade you" video)? I have never been a great fan of Daria's - I find her too harsh looking, and the make-up and styling on this cover just doesn't suit her.

Kate Moss is another matter all together! She is my favourite model now and forever - the woman is sheer perfection. She never fails to captivate and inspire you. I for one will be watching her progress with Longchamp very carefully.

Vogue Paris is by far the best, with US Vogue right behind. Despite being a Londoner (living in Paris), I must say that I have never been a fan of Vogue UK. I find it a bit blah... Subscribing will save you a wee bit of money BUT copies will hit news-stands way before your mailbox!

(again) hello kellina and milla....

daria: i like daria a lot...not really keen on this cover. (daria actually reminds me a bit of linda evangelista)

french vogue, british vogue, american vogue: in all 3 there are usually very good articles about art and film...fashion-wise i prefer french and british (american vogue is too conservative for my taste)...
( i live in montréal..i speak french...so i also like reading/looking at "jalouse"...)

Hi, Milla and Jane:

I haven't seen that Beyonce video so I cannot say for sure. I am sort of ambivalent towards Daria, she hasn't left a huge impression on me but I do think she looks pretty on this cover. The colors of the background complement her well and the entire thing gives me hope for warmer weather which is most welcome right now! I agree with Milla that Kate Moss and Longchamp will def be worth watching.

As for which Vogues I prefer, obviously Vogue Paris is my top choice by far. I think Vogue US is conservative and dull whenever I have chanced to peruse it. The advertisers include Band-Aid, need I say more? I find Vogue UK a bit more interesting typically, and Vogue Italy is a pleasure to look at though I can't understand a word. I also picked up copies of AnOther Magazine and V Magazine recently that I enjoyed.

Gorgeous cover! I am completely missing Paris now. Miss buying my French Vogues. :( I hope to see Carine at the NY collections. Last year I sat behind her. What a wonderful woman with superb style. She is my first girlcrush. xx

Merci, girlcrush! I am so glad that you have found the site. Are you from Paris or just missing it? So cool that you sat behind Carine at the shows in NY last year!!! What was she like? What was she wearing? I so envy you!!!

xx

How badly do we all want to be Miss Girlcrush!? I feel like roaming the streets of Paris searching for Carine. Maybe we'll accidently bump into each other. Milla can only hope!

American Vogue is very conservative and quite repetitive BUT every now and then, you find the most amazing article.

Milla, if you do decide to begin wandering the streets in hopes of a chance meeting with Carine, be sure to bring a discreet camera!

; )

Thank you, too, for noting the irony I overlooked. I no sooner complained about the lameness of Vogue US et voila! they provided a useful article despite my criticism. Well done, Milla!
