Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld At Home

The description was published originally in Portuguese so I am not entirely certain, but I believe that this photograph of Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld was taken in his Upper East Side apartment. It says that his luxurious home reflects his passion for the arts, congregating incredible pieces displayed in uncommon locations that turn up in temporary galleries. A few of the highlights include paintings by Nicolas Pol and Richard Hambleton — two artists Vladimir has curated — as well as the work of one of his favorite photographers, Raphael Mazzucco. I'd love to know who created the art in the background above, the eyes are haunting me. Vladimir has lived independently since he was 17 and apparently has firm tastes: he allows neither girlfriend Giovanna Battaglia nor his mother to style his space, the décor is his alone. For added panache, the building was formerly occupied by Al Pacino.
[Editor's note: Thank you to b for confirming that the photograph seen in the background above is by Raphael Mazzucco. Thanks also to Vernard for pointing out that there are actually two works of art behind Vladimir, a photograph on the left and a painting on the right; both are by Mazzucco and can be seen in his Collected Works.]

This is the photo I like best. He looks interesting where in other shots he looks vacuous.
Hi, cigalechanta! I feel a strong resemblance between his eyes and those in the portrait behind him, I like the sensation.
Great picture! :)
Hi, Leia! So glad that you like it.

Personally Vladimir does nothing for me. I just want to wash his hair every single time I see an image of him!! This photograph is rather different, and you're so right Kellina, there is a very strong resemblance between him and the background image. The eyes are almost haunting. Great shot.
I agree with Milla: I reckon Christian is far hotter and more interesting than Vladimir. Pity he's such a private man, I'd love to see more posts of him. The best thing about Vladimir is his awesome girlfriend, the lovely Giovanna.
I think Vlad is arty-hot. Does that make me shallow? :)
I love this photo, but I do wonder if Vladimir is controlling. I am always afraid of men who exert too much influence over their own space. (Your blog is amazing).
Ha ha, Milla, wash that hair!!

Thanks for the back up on the resemblance, I think the photographer was v. clever.
Agreed, Amina! More photos of the elusive Christian Restoin, svp...
Vlad is TOTALLY arty-hot, Kate! But you are far too wise to be considered shallow, my dear...

Thank you so much for your kind words, Sherry!
This is an interesting premise, that Vlad might like to control things beyond just his space... How can we test this theory?
; )
After studying that picture, I think it is a portrait of him!
His mother has her portrait by KL in her office.
interesting idea, cigalechanta. the form in the painting seems feminine to me though...
The photo is by Raphael Mazzucco.
Hi, b! Thank you so much for confirming this information, I suspected it was Mazzucco.
Your welcome! Thank you- the blog is great.
Thank you again, b! I am so glad to hear that you like the blog.

The photo and art is both by Raphael Mazzucco
From his book: Raphael Mazzucco Collected Art
I truly appreciate this information, Vernard. I had not yet seen the small photo behind Vladimir, thank you for pointing it out.
