Black Carine Roitfeld

I have no idea what to say about the latest illustration of Carine Roitfeld by aleXsandro Palombo on his blog Humor Chic but it made me laugh when I saw it so I have decided to share it with you. Not only has aleXsandro added pigment to Carine's hair and skin, he has completely messed with her fashion sense. A bit wild, non ?

I think that the shapes that she wears are there though. Just everything is saturated with colour/patterns... If she actually looked like that she would be quite striking but as for the clothes... I prefer Carine in neutrals.

I imagine that this is in response to Vogue making white models up as black in recent issues. It has been quite controversial and received a lot of bad press here. What has been the reaction, if any, in the US?

I don't get the big ho-ha about it though I do not understand Vogue's intention/desire. Really didn't get it... Views?

a provocation, but I like his creativity... she looks good with warm, brown skin!

Yes, that's a nice point, Tanya. The clothing is drawn in the shape of Carine's typical attire, it is the color and the pattern that makes it different. I definitely prefer her in neutrals as well.

Milla, I heard very little about the issue other than the online slings and arrows about VP being racist which I personally believe is a ridiculous interpretation of the editorial.

LadyLindy, he is certainly provocative and creative! Makes me laugh too.

This totally made me laugh out loud! I love his drawings...I don't understand them half the time, but they're great!

So glad you laughed, tbf! I agree, even though I am sometimes puzzled he does amuse me.
