Restoin-Roitfeld Opens Hambleton In Moscow

Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld has partnered with Andy Valmorbida again to bring the pop expressionist work of street artist Richard Hambleton to Moscow. The exhibit of new work by Hambleton opens today at the State Museum of Modern Art and will be on display through September 29; others cooperating in the event include Moscow City Government, Moscow City Department of Culture, Russian Academy of Arts, and the Moscow Museum of Modern Art. The opening party is slated for September 8, I am sure it will be a chic affair. However, since Fashion Celebration Night takes place the previous evening in Paris, mama is going to have to hustle if she plans to be there. The Hambleton exhibit will be shown next in London in November.

Vogue UK's Next Fashion Blogger?

Remember my lovely friend Lula at The Subject I Know Best and her illustrations of Carine Roitfeld, Anna Dello Russo, Giovanna Battaglia and others that I posted recently? Her art is so cool that she inspired ADR and Gio themselves to tweet about it. Exciting news, Lula has been selected for Vogue UK's short list to become the latest famous street style fashion blogger! Vogue UK is searching for its next generation of bloggers and Lula's enchanting illustrations capture the street vibe perfectly. Her letter of introduction for the contest is adorable as well, a lovely touch. The winner of Vogue UK's contest will maintain a daily blog on the web site. The panel of judges from Vogue UK for the contest are: Robin Derrick, Creative Director; Emily Sheffield, Deputy Editor; Jaime Perlman, Art Director; and Michael Trow, Picture Editor. Lula, we wish you the very best of luck in the contest!

Carine Roitfeld's Library

Behold the library of Carine Roitfeld or what we can see of it anyway. Of course she has the requisite issues of Vogue Paris much like we saw in her daughter Julia Restoin-Roitfeld's library although hers are stacked on the coffee table rather than the floor. What is more surprising is that most of the books on Carine's shelves appear to be in English and focus on photography and art with a dash of fashion, again mirroring Julia's collection. I regret that I cannot decipher more of the titles but the type is simply too small.

Aside: why has Todd Selby not yet photographed Carine's elegant home for us? He did such an amazing job when he shot Julia's apartment, more than 60 gorgeous photos of minimal splendor. Let's see his perspective of Carine... The photograph shown here comes from a beautiful book titled New Paris Interiors which showcases the apartment of Carine and partner Christian Roitfeld as well as the homes of many other tasteful and influential Parisians.

Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld In H Magazine

Berto Martínez created this masterful portrait of Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld for a recent issue of H Magazine. I think Martínez has an absolutely gorgeous style of illustration, he shows a knack for attending to detail while keeping it fluid. Apparently there is an article in the magazine that features Vlad as well titled "Flow," please consider sharing with us if you have the good fortune to possess a copy of it. What is your opinion of this image of Vladimir, evocative or no?

Roitfeld Swims With Sharks

Tee hee, I have to say that aleXsandro Palombo's most recent sketch of Carine Roitfeld has me absolutely in stitches. In the summer edition of Humor Chic, we see Carine navigating the choppy waters of the "Sea of Vogue" riding bareback atop a shark. Looks like she is ready to make mincemeat out of anyone that gets in her way...
