Julia Restoin-Roitfeld: I Am

For the second issue of the fabulously and fully illustrated fashion magazine Herself, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld answered the call for a self-portrait in words with great style. I especially love that Lula, the creator of Herself, styled the letter "U" in Julia's name to resemble a flacon of Tom Ford Black Orchid for which Julia served as the face, ingénieux. I Want To Be Lula

My impeccably lovely friend Lula agreed to share with all of us her vision for 2012 as well as a glimpse of her glamorous life at Herself headquarters. IWTBAR asked, "What do you forecast for 2012? For yourself? For Herself? For the world of fashion, art, and beyond?" and below is her delightful response. Of course Lula showed up for her interview looking just like Carine Roitfeld on the cover of i-D... très sexy, très chic... Merci mille fois, beautiful Lula!

I Want To Be Lula.

Myself, Herself.
So I want to wear black and look for the bright sides.
And the wild ones.

I Want To Keep On Searching.
And keep on painting my own reality.
Keep borrowing words from the others.

I Want To Go To Places I Have Never Gone Before.
And come back home at night.

I Want To Start Writing A Diary.
I'm not sure I'll ever share its pages.

The Roitfelds In Herself

My enormously talented friend Lula has outdone herself this time, she has launched a fully illustrated fashion magazine titled Herself featuring many of our favorites: Carine Roitfeld, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Sofia Coppola, and Giovanna Battaglia, among others. I was thrilled to receive a copy of Herself No. 01: The Portrait Issue last week from Lula and was smitten with the glossy beauty instantly. Much like the Vogue Paris Collections, Herself will serve as a wonderful reference to the fashion season for years to come, I plan to collect every issue and I recommend you do the same. Congratulations to Lula on her fabulous new concept in fashion magazines.
