Roitfeld Takes Tea At Toraya

My friend Milla recently discovered Toraya, a beautiful tea salon and pastry shop in Paris that happens to be one of Carine Roitfeld's favorite spots. Milla concurs and she has written an excellent review of Toraya accompanied by her photos of the salon; below is an excerpt that she kindly agreed to share with us. Oh, I am as green as tea with envy...

Telling you that I love all things Japanese would just be like telling you my name is Milla. Old news. Last Thursday, Paris surprised me; not only did I meet a very nice Japanese lady, we also had a chance to sit and talk at Toraya, which is now officially my favourite resto in Paris... When people talk about food being as good as sex, I will know that they've been to Toraya!

Vogue Bar At Hôtel de Crillon

The Vogue Bar opens at Hôtel de Crillon today and the menu looks superb. Enjoy "Carine's Tea Time," a mélange of Absolut vodka, green tea syrup, lime juice, and mint blossom water or "Julia's Rose," a blend of Absolut vodka, rose syrup, and apple and cranberry juices. Perhaps you are in the mood for a "Tom Ford's Apple Martini" or a "Suprême Emmanuelle Smoothie." Additionally, the news from Paris Fashion Week is being broadcast on flatscreens for those taking a break from the front row and makeup artists will be on hand for consultations and touch ups. Be sure to get there quickly: this new spot to see and be seen will last only through March 13.

The Roitfelds At Indochine Anniversary Party

On Friday night Indochine celebrated 25 years of decadence with seven hours of non-stop over-the-top partying and of course both of the Restoin-Roitfelds, Julia and Vladimir, were part of the wild scene. The 1920s Shanghai party theme inspired delightful costumes, the signature edibles tantalized partygoers, and the deft DJs kept the packed crowd gyrating.

The evening's entertainment featured go-go dancers in birdcages as well as on poles and performances by Raven O, Narcissister, Peppermint, Epiphany, and The Ones with Wanda Acosta, Belinda Becker, Nick Cohen, Coleman, Donna D’Cruz, Mess Kid, and Rawdon spinning.

The swank soirée was hosted by owners Michael Callahan, Jean-Marc Houmard, and Huy Chi Le; among the guests were Lily Donaldson, Naomi Watts, Iman, Zac Posen, Willem Dafoe, Charlotte and Olivier Sarkozy, Anna Sui, Michael Keaton, Andy Valmorbida, Frederique van der Wal, Harley Viera-Newton, Jean-Philippe Delhomme, Chiara Clemente, Victor Calderone, Rosie Perez, Byrdie Bell, Liev Schreiber, Erin Fetherston, Ellen von Unwerth, Narciso Rodriguez, Francisco Costa, Genevieve Jones, Stephen Gan, Hamish Bowles, Stefano Tonchi, Jennifer Brill, Sam Shaffer, Isabel Rattazzi, and Poppy De Villeneuve.

The Roitfelds are clearly smitten with the place, as Julia said, “I come here all the time..I’ve had my three last birthdays here, my brothers’ three last birthdays, all the big events...It’s quite a magical place, you know?” If you did not make the party, there's also the Indochine 25th anniversary book...

Indochine Now In Print

J'adore the cover of the newly published Indochine: Stories, Shaken and Stirred, a beautiful book that captures the beautiful people celebrating, merrymaking, moving, and shaking in this hallowed fashion hangout over the last quarter of a century. Notice I didn't actually say eating... Look at all the special occasions the Roitfelds have spent at Indochine as proof of its goodness: birthdays, graduations, art opening afterparties. Contributors to the book include Julianne Moore, Patrick McMullan, Moby, Tom Sachs, Salman Rushdie, Narciso Rodriguez, Patrick Demarchelier, Francesco Clemente, Helmut Lang, Julian Schnabel, Roxanne Lowit, and many other notables. T Magazine held a fascinating interview with Jean-Marc Houmard about the 25th anniversary of Indochine and the publication of the book; Houmard joined forces with Huy Chi Le and Michael Callahan to buy Indochine in 1992.
