Julia Restoin-Roitfeld: A Woman Like Romy

V Magazine's "Heroes Issue" releases on September 8, and as you know Carine Roitfeld has been chosen as the guest editor for the iconic issue. Among the 300 collectible pages are 72 devoted to the late Elizabeth Taylor, a glamorous extravaganza inspired by her famous allure and shot by Mario Testino; as Carine notes, "She had the kind of elegance that went far beyond clothes." Also intriguing is the editorial featured here titled "A Woman Like Romy" that pays tribute to an actress esteemed by both mother and daughter as a style icon: Romy Schneider. Thanks to stylelist.com for this brief behind-the-scenes video of the making of V's epic September issue. It certainly promises to be an eventful autumn for Roitfeld lovers..

Roitfeld And Testino For V Magazine

V Magazine’s founder and editor-in-chief Stephen Gan confirmed that Carine Roitfeld will style the September cover, “My stage is always open to her and she can perform anytime she wants to on it. She wants it to be a surprise, but it’s for the September issue. We leave for Europe tomorrow, and we will work with Mario Testino. That’s all I can say.” Note that Roitfeld and Testino were the team responsible for the very first cover of V Magazine, the September/October 1999 issue with Jude Law featured here. I cannot wait to see what the fabulous duo has in mind for this September...

Carine Roitfeld For V Magazine

This certainly will be an autumn to remember for fashionistas as Carine Roitfeld makes her mark on the New York fashion scene: in addition to styling Barneys New York for fall she is contributing to the prominent September issue of V Magazine! Carine will style the cover and an editorial spread for the issue and Derek Blasberg has already described her contribution as "epic, iconic, killer." I cannot wait to see what C does with V...

Roitfeld Interviews Tom Ford

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld has shot some of the hottest photographs imaginable of herself. Yes, she created these stunning self-portraits in addition to interviewing Tom Ford for the January issue of V Magazine! Note that she is wearing Ford's new women's collection as well. Total hotness!

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld: What made you decide that this was the season to return to fashion?

Tom Ford: I told myself that I would not come back to women's fashion until I felt I had something new to say. I feel that fashion has become too serious and that the actual customer's needs have not really been addressed. Fashion needs to make one happy. It is a luxury and should enhance one's quality of life.

JRR: What inspired your collection?

TF: Real clothes for real women. I want to concentrate on my real customer. That's why I showed idealized versions of her — different women of different ages. It was about individuality, different body types, women who have their own style.

JRR: What do you think fashion needs more of right now?

TF: Spontaneity. Fashion needs to be more fun.

JRR: What personality traits does the Tom Ford woman possess?

TF: My customer has her own sense of style and knows herself well. My goal is to help women become the best version of themselves.

JRR: What is your favorite piece from the collection?

TF: I love every piece. That is like asking someone which one of their children is their favorite.

JRR: Outside fashion, what are you looking forward to this spring?

TF: I have to say more fashion. I love what I am doing right now and can't wait to start the next collection.

JRR: What was the last thing that made you laugh?

TF: I laugh a good bit so that is a hard question. I suppose a phone call I just had with Richard [Buckley] five minutes ago made me laugh pretty hard. He has a wicked sense of humor.

JRR: What's your New Year's resolution?

TF: I don't have one. I believe in living life the way that you want to live it every day, and if you do that you don't really need to have New Year's resolutions.

I Want To Be A Roitfeld In V Magazine

Whooot!! Derek Blasberg mentioned I Want To Be A Roitfeld in his "Blasberg's Best of 2009" for V Magazine, essentially noting that this is the chicest resource on the chicest family in the world. Je vous remercie mille fois, Derek, très sympa. I wanted to document this moment as well as Carine Roitfeld's stunning flexibility.
