Giovanna Battaglia: Total Gold

With Carine Roitfeld leaving Vogue Paris, we will naturally look to fashion editor Giovanna Battaglia (and girlfriend of Carine's son, Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld) to provide us with the visual stimulation we crave. The gorgeous spreads seen here in "Total Gold" are from the December 2010 issue of Vogue Gioiello; La Battaglia gives the editorial her golden touch with photography by Sofia Sanchez and Mauro Mongiello completing the picture. I love especially that she selected the rabbit mask worn by one of the Missonis at the Vogue Paris masked ball as a prop for this editorial, I adored it when I saw it then. I also like her choice of four gold rings by Repossi, très chic. What do you think of Giovanna's work here, solid gold or not sold? I would love to hear which details capture your attention amid the trove of sparkling treasures... If you want to see more, view this backstage video.

Roitfeld And Battaglia Celebrate New Year

Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld and Giovanna Battaglia ushered in 2011 in fabulous Caribbean style at the bash hosted by friends Roman Abramovich and Dasha Zhukova at their lush island estate on St. Barth. Other friends joining the party of 250 were Francois-Henri Pinault, Salma Hayek, Diddy, Alessandra Ambrosio, Jason Statham, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Fergie, Andre Harrell, Dean Caten, Dan Caten, Renata Maciel, Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, George Lucas, Andrey Melnichenko, Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi, Anthony Kiedis, and Harvey Weinstein.

The Black Eyed Peas performed for guests until the power cut out dramatically at midnight as everyone cheered "Happy New Year!" A brilliant display of fireworks lit the sky while guests waited for the blackout to end. Abramovich is rumored to have spent $5 million on the party but even with all of his wealth he cannot control the elements. Luckily guests did not have to travel far in these conditions as they were welcome to stay either in the bungalows on the estate or on the flotilla of yachts secured by Abramovich for the party.

Carine Roitfeld In The Crowd

Pierre-Alban HF asked me to share his wonderful photographs of Carine Roitfeld, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Giovanna Battaglia, and other fashion favorites with you and I am thrilled to oblige. I particularly love the playfulness between Carine and Emmanuelle Alt that he captures in the first two shots. He refers to the two women as "Icônes — drôles et impertinentes — d'une presse mode décompléxée. Carine Roitfeld et Emmanuelle Alt respirent la mode et sa liberté, son insolence." or in English, "Icons — amusing and impertinent — of a non-taboo fashion press. Carine Roitfeld and Emmanuelle Alt exude fashion and its liberty, its insolence." Please visit Pierre's site, The Crowd Magazine, to view more of his fine work. Merci mille fois, Pierre !
