Vogue Paris Translation: Editorial, October 2010

Here is my translation from French to English of the editorial that Carine Roitfeld penned in her own hand for the October issue of Vogue Paris. Though brief it is adorable and I am a completist so I wanted to include it here.

Si un seul mot devait résumer l'élégance, le luxe, l'audace, le désir et l'esprit, nul doute que ce serait Vogue ! Un miracle enchanté qui fête ses 90 ans.

If only one word were to sum up elegance, luxury, audacity, desire, and spirit, no doubt it would be Vogue! An enchanted miracle that celebrates 90 years.

Julia Restoin-Roitfeld: Masked Beauty

The hypnotic green eyes piercing the black lace Phillip Treacy mask belong to Julia Restoin-Roitfeld of course, so gorgeous. The exquisitely detailed mask acts as a perfect frame for her mesmerizing gaze making her the perfect enchantress for the evening. Le bal masqué de Vogue Paris, quelle fête ! Julia, quelle beauté !

Christian Restoin Au Bal Masqué

Look what I found! By special request, here is a photograph of Carine Roitfeld's partner, Christian Restoin, at the masquerade ball to mark Vogue Paris' 90th anniversary. Christian is posing with his son Vladimir and Vivi Nevo, may I suggest that Monsieur Restoin might have been a bit more creative with his costume? Something along the lines of a leopard tamer perhaps...

Le Bal Masqué De Vogue Paris Photos

As you all know, Carine Roitfeld and Vogue Paris staged a masquerade ball at the Hotel Pozzo di Borgo in Paris in order to revel in the magazine's 90th birthday. And revel they did! I reveled as well though elsewhere so I am just getting around to adding the photographs to the gallery et voilà — le bal masqué de Vogue Paris photos! I love how The New York Times noted that the extensive preparation by the guests for the masked ball indicated "the pent-up demand among the fashion elite for a truly decadent affair." Indeed. Per usual, Carine Roitfeld knew how to satiate the desire. May the next ninety years of Vogue Paris be as bold, as decadent, as irreverent, as audacious, as fun.
