I Want To Be A Roitfeld: Year Five

Today is 16 May, my favorite day of the year — I Want To Be A Roitfeld is five years old today! It is incredible to note that for half of a decade this site has been devoted to the Roitfeld family — Carine, Julia, and Vladimir — what adventures we have had! Best of all, the lily of the valley, or le muguet, is in bloom today, the most glorious herald of spring, the fragrance intoxicates. In case you are not in a position to smell the wondrous lily of the valley yourself, I picked you posies from my garden to celebrate the day.

First, a virtual bouquet for you, dear reader, for you are our raison d'être, without you we write for naught. Merci mille fois especially to those of you that dare to comment and offer your own opinion on our subjects.

Next, a bouquet for my incredible editorial team, Dara Block, Jascmeen Bush, Jessica Eritou, Renee Hernandez, Montse Ocejo, Bernie Rothschild, and Sarra Salib. I am continually inspired by all of you and I wholeheartedly thank each of you for contributing your talents to IWTBAR.

Finally, a special nosegay for my beloved Michael, Sweet Pea, and Walter, for the constant love and encouragement, ich liebe dich.

xx

I Want To Be A Roitfeld: Year Two

Today marks the anniversary of I Want To Be A Roitfeld, two glorious years of following the Roitfeld family: style icon and editrix extraordinaire, Carine Roitfeld, and her two brilliant and beautiful children, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld. It has been quite the exciting year and I love all of you for reading along with the fashionable adventures of the Roitfelds. Let's take a moment to reflect on a few of the highlights over the last year:

Vladimir presented several new art shows:

Julia kept busy with her work as model, art director, journalist, and photographer:

What a year! I would also like to thank every single contributor to the blog — the writers, the photographers, and the artists that lend their incredible talents to make the blog worth visiting, in particular I wish to heartily thank my brilliant editors for their wonderful words and their constant encouragement.

Most special thanks to my loverly beau, Michael, who constantly supports me in this endeavor — I could never do it without you, mtm, you pwn. Finally thanks again to YOU for reading this blog! You make it special by reading along and voicing your opinions, you are its raison d'être, you ROCK! Looking forward to another amazing year ahead with you!

Roitfeld At i-D 30th Anniversary Party

'Tis the season for celebrating and Julia Restoin-Roitfed is assuredly doing it with great style. In celebration of three decades of publishing, i-D threw a party sparkling with 450 stars of fashion, arts, and entertainment. Founded by Terry and Tricia Jones in August 1980, i-D has been respected ever since as the definitive primer on style, helping to launch the careers of Björk, Juergen Teller, Madonna, Mario Testino, Naomi Campbell, and Craig McDean among countless others. Pictured here giving the traditional i-D wink are Julia, Robert Konjic, Simon Harris, and Emma Summerton.
