Emmanuelle Alt: 20 Ans Top Ten

Carine Roitfeld and Emmanuelle Alt worked together at the magazine 20 Ans in the Nineties, a publication reputed for the ability to spot burgeoning talent at that time. As fashion coordinator, 20 Ans asked Alt to describe her top ten fashion favorites. It is interesting to look back and see which of her preferences have endured. Here are Alt's favorites in both French and English (by the way, I have officially stopped worrying about wearing too much black):

  1. Black plastic flip flops, easy, chic, and sexy.
  2. Black stockings by Wolford (because of the sublime campaign by Newton).
  3. Black trousers by Helmut Lang, because they are timeless and low waisted, loose fitting but not too loose.
  4. I don’t wear them [skirts] but from time to time a black Ann Demeulemeester skirt cut perfectly, barefoot, and the legs must be tan.
  5. Black coat by Costume National, tiny cut, totally modern.
  6. Glossies bra by Gossard, amazing, in either black or beige, like tights, seamless.
  7. Black short-sleeved tshirt by APC, because it is small, it looks like a tshirt from the 1970s and it ages well.
  8. Black sunglasses by Armani, like Bono of U2.
  9. Air King watch by Rolex because they do not make one better.
  10. Long black dress by Galliano, chic without being granny, sexy, pure with Manolo Blahnik heels.

More Alt trivia: Emmanuelle's approximate age is 42 (she is noted as 40 in an article dated December 2007), she is obsessed with the era influenced by the film Saturday Night Fever, and her favorite book is Raised by Wolves by Jim Goldberg.

Vogue Paris August 2010 Editorials

The editorials I have seen so far indicate that Carine Roitfeld has styled the hell out of the August issue of Vogue Paris, I cannot wait to possess it... Here in an outtake from "L'hiver avant l'hiver" is Crystal Renn who I believe strongly resembles none other than Julia Restoin-Roitfeld. Curves are in so flaunt it if you've got it, mesdames et monsieurs. Sexy time! David Sims shot the sensual spread styled by Roitfeld and Emmanuelle Alt.

Also looking good: Isabeli Fontana in "L'hiver avant l'hiver" and Malgosia Bela in "Médailles du style" styled by Veronique Didry and photographed by Josh Olins. (Be sure to visit Anna Dello Russo's site for more gorgeous medals of style.) Available on newsstands now provided you live in the right neighborhood...

Texting Carine Roitfeld

Thanks to her zoom lens, Caroline Blomst captured Carine Roitfeld receiving a text on her Blackberry and you can see from the tiny image that it is her son Vladimir. Clearly whatever he had to say was important because several more frames are shot and Carine hardly glances at the camera, instead focusing intensely on her Blackberry. Emmanuelle Alt also appears in many of the frames standing directly to the right of Carine. The photographs were taken following the Bottega Veneta show as part of Milan Fashion Week.

Pretty Poly, Natty Noureiev

Two sexy outtakes from the most recent publications of Carine Roitfeld are pictured here. First we see Natasha Poly traveling by camel across Morocco garbed in a mix of Cavalli, Kenzo, and Pucci against the shimmering sand and sky. The editorial is styled by Emmanuelle Alt and photographed by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin for the April issue of Vogue Paris.

Next we have Vladimir Ivanov also clad in a panoply of pattern as he reclines in his den of iniquity. He actually looks better in a turban, étrange... Is it bad that I want to go lie down with him? Clearly styled by the inimitable Carine Roitfeld and shot by Patrick Demarchelier for the Vogue Hommes International Spring/Summer issue, the editorial is titled "Noureiev" but who needs names...

Vogue Hommes International Spring/Summer 2010: Kate Moss

The new issue of Vogue Hommes International features supermodel Kate Moss on the cover in a sultry beach shoot photographed by Mario Sorrenti and styled by Emmanuelle Alt. Please note that since this is a magazine that focuses on menswear, there is very little for Kate to actually model as she romps in the sand and surf. The editorials include "L'Étoffe des Héros" styled by Beat Bolliger and shot by David Sims (which looks to continue the Nouveau Western theme we have seen from Vogue Paris of late), "Basquiat" styled by Anastasia Barbieri and shot by Cedric Buchet, "Elvis" styled by Emmanuelle Alt and shot by David Sims, and "Noureiev" styled by Carine Roitfeld and shot by Patrick Demarchelier. Looks to be a hot issue...
